My experience with the Starter SNS is not extensive, but I was asked to try it out back when my youngest adopted son, now 18, was a baby. I got the impression that the 24 hour thing was the amount of time they would guarantee that it would stay together. On the first one I had, the tube broke off quite easily. As long as it stays together, though, I think it can continue to be used. There is no reason it can't be cleaned as thoroughly as the full SNS, if it is taken apart completely.
