I'm not convinced of that Chris.
While babies have immature GI tracts breast milk has digestive enzymes.
Also two learned anthologists we all know (Kathy D and a football fan at Notre Dame named McKenna) have told me that in many places in the world moms don't complain of gassy babies. Kathy told me where she did research in Africa the moms don't complain of gassy babies and don't even burp them. They do however hold them upright all day so of course the gas escapes on its own. Also by not letting the baby cry the baby swallows less air.
I often pass on theses pearls to parents.
