  Ellen Shein, and Everyone,
Nils Bergmann said that, but so also did the late Ashley Montagu,
much earlier. See if your library has Montagu's book,

Montagu, Ashley.Touching: The human significance of the skin. It is well
worth a look on these issues. Columbia University Press, 1971. (I believe
there have been later printings.)

Others have also written on "exterior gestation", e.g.

Earnshaw PA. The baby's birthright: a plea for a return to exterior
gestation and breast feeding. Med J Aust, Feb. 18, 1961.

Those of you interested in these issues need to look at the references
used by both these authors, Montagu and Earnshaw, if you are serious about
seeing *where* these ideas came from, before that! They certainly did *not*
originate in the two or three years, though they have been taken up and
applied by a new generation of fine people, such as Nils.
To diverse slightly, I once met old Dr Earnshaw in his retirement,
when he accompanied the Flying Doctor on some of his regular clinics,
visiting the small town where I was then living. Some time in the 1970s
(mid-1970s?). It was only a brief encounter as it was a busy clinic day and
I wasn't a patient. He was a respected Queensland paediatrician.
      Cheers,
          Virginia
