Dear Readers:  I have a breastfeeding dyad of 10
weeks, mother has Chrohn's disease and recently had a
fistula resection; her gastroenterologist wants to
start her on Imuran 100 mg by mouth daily and wean
from breastfeeding. Hale rates this medication as an
L3. The  mother is willing to time the dose consistent
with meals to decrease the metabolite. One year ago
same mother was on Remicade which is L2 by Hale but
her physician does not want "to go there" due to
expense and that now she is on Medicaid.  Looking for
any other resources or advice regarding Imuran.  This
mother very compliant and reliable when it comes to
medications. Her prior breastfeeding experience was
for 12 months and she does not want to lose this one.
