I always enjoy your wisdom and responses-this is one of the best!! BTW, this
was the only way I ever got a bit of milk expressed!! Even while hospitalized
for gallbladder surg(my son was 18 mos, I did better than with the hosp
electric pump!!)

As for starting solids-I always nursed first, that way being sure the baby
got the good nutrition, then the solid food was a try it type of thing-less
frustrated baby was usually more willing to experiment a bit. Also, once
started, I would leave the 1/4 banana to the sitter when going to do my 5
minute talk on breastfeeding to a childbirth class(trying to buffer the
hospital routine thing with correct info)

On reading of the mom with sore nipples from ovulation on, -I tend to be
yeast infection prone(vag) form mid cycle til my period, sometimes slight and
clears up by itself-perhaps this mom gets a transient type as well?
