A client in my clinic last week presented an interesting problem. First time
Mother -baby 7 weeks old and has since birth,  favoured the (L) side. When
attached to the (R) side baby sucks for a couple of minutes starts fussing,
unlatches and when attempts are made to reattach, baby refuses and screams.
Mum takes her off and puts her on the (L) side and she feeds away happily.
Consequently (L) breast is larger than (R). Mum says that her husband has
fondly teased her saying that her (R) nipple is larger than the (L). When I
examined her nipple there seemed to be a main nipple and then another one
like an extension directly under it. Could this be an accessory nipple?
It may explain why baby isn't fond of that side eg receives lots of milk
out of 2 nipples at once. Has anyone any ideas?
