I was contacted today by a mother of a 3 month old who has had her third mastitis by know. The second time, it developed into an abcess, and she was hospitalized for a week. She is concerned, because now her OB/GYN has told her to wean, and she doesnt want to. Still, she is worried of why she has gotten mastitis so many times.

First she got mastitis on the left side, 2nd time she got it on her right side (her abcess was near the areola), now she has it on her left side again.

Her two year old has strept throat.

  What do you suggest?
