Correct, weaning will not fix hyperthyroidism. If you are referring to the
mom she needs careful tx.
She may need to wean in order to take meds.  Check latest ed of Lawrence.
She says depending on age of baby you can give meds and watch baby carefully
via blood tests biweekly. Now frankly we all know it would be easier for
docs for mom to wean and give her meds, but we also all know BF best for
baby so of course we would pick BF & blood tests :-)  Pat in SNJ
