Have had  questions from a couple of nurses about our purified lanolin
products. Both  nurses insist that the use of these products should  be       
     
encouraged  preventatively, even if mother has no complaints of nipple  pain.

Dear Friends:
    Where is the evidence that anything applied to a  nipple prevents pain or 
damage?
    What about taking the time to teach good  positioning and cue based 
feeding? What about observing a feed, looking at  the nipple's shape when it comes 
out of a baby's mouth, and making  recommendations then?
    Why the emphasis on product and basting  nipples?
