Hi Morgan

Thank you for your comment on the Oxfam blog. It is always interesting
to hear people's views.

The bottle in the video was used purely as an object that represents
motherhood, not as promotion of how people should feed their babies.
There is nothing in the video that indicated that the milk in the bottle
is formula. It could have just as easily been expressed breast milk or
cows milk (something that is often introduced after breast-feeding when
the baby is older).

I am sorry if this video has angered you, but I can assure you it was
not our intention. Oxfam does not promote formula milk.

With best wishes
Emily Subden

My reply:

Dear Emily,

The fact that you are using an artificial feeding device to represent
motherhood, is just obscene. Mothers are not going to accept you
equating their love, with bottles. You have completely ignored my
comments on how many babies die every year, from inappropriate bottle
feeding.

Rest assured, I will not be the only person raising this with you. How
on earth can you state that the bottle was representing motherhood, and
yet also state it is not a comment on how to feed babies? Babies feed
at their mother's breast. Where is that image?

This is completely irresponsible. And utterly shocking then when you
sat down to think about how to represent motherhood - you came up with a
device that kills 4000 babies every single day.

I will blogging about this later on today, and will pass your comments
on to other like minded mothers and infant feeding specialists. This
issue is going to be raised repeatedly and I advise Oxfam to think a
little bit more about how they want to represent their organisation, if
they think "bottles equals motherhood".

Will my blog comment be passed for view, or censored?
