I've been watching more TV lately than usual (Millionaire, Academy Awards,
etc.) and keep seeing horrible ads from the infant formula companies -- new
ones, I presume.

One shows a mother giving her 3-4 year old Pediasure with a straw to drink.
Pediasure is being promoted as a "health drink" with "complete balanced
nutrition" for preschoolers. Yucko. Why can't they just be breastfed?

Another shows toddlers-3 year olds with individual serving size bottles of
Pedialyte that they are slugging down with glee. They certainly don't seem
to be sick or have diarrhea, or anything else the matter with them.

The third are ads for the Viactiv line of adult nutritional products for
healthy adults, including calcium chews, energy/power bars, adult formula
("complete balanced nutrition").

Anybody else seeing these? Any comments?

Whatever happened to chewing one's food?
