What strikes me about the description of the charm hold is that it could
replicate the effect on baby's musculature of biological nurturing, AKA
laid-back breastfeeding

.
Which a recent series of La Leche League calls (mom in pain one day,
"happy" the next) confirmed my confidence in. It's so important to tell
moms: a newborn's reflexes make sense only with gravity keeping baby molded
to mom! I also believe that mom's relaxation, as Jeanette was commenting
on last month, has a big influence on baby's tension, so I love the
connotations of "Laid-back" (in my dialect of English, at least).
