I sent my copies of what I wrote and added the following:

To whom it may concern,

My name is Janet (Jaye) Simpson, IBCLC, CIIM. I am an IBCLC in Private
Practice in Sacramento, CA. I received information just a couple days ago
on Lactnet re: the new Scope of Practice that IBLCE just put out. I pulled
it up, read - and sat in shock as I watched my credentials of IBCLC go from
having meaning and purpose to meaning absolutely nothing. The New SoP
effectively makes it impossible for me to do my job as an IBCLC correctly
without losing my certification. The contradictions within the SoP and the
IBLCE Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics is astounding.

I am sending you my two posts to Lactnet on the subject. I am not the only
one who is distressed and concerned about the restrictions suddenly placed
on IBCLC's around the world. I respectfully suggest that time is taken to
read the concerns on Lactnet and more time taken to rescind and rewrite a
Scope of Practice that makes sense and gives us the ability to do our job as
laid out in the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.

Please - if this new SoP stays I cannot recertify in 2010 - there will be no
reason for me to do so for I will be unable to help families in the manner I
was taught - I will no longer be able to help my community nor continue to
help educate the many MD's who ask for my assistance and education.

Thank you for taking the time to read on.
