Thanks to Lynn for pointing out the formula support web site. I had actually
seen this reply to NABA's points about the supplemented formula. Soon, parents
will have no choice about their baby's formula. If they choose not to
breastfeed or cannot breastfeed, either exclusively or partially, only the
supplemented formula will be available. The whole point in releasing this formula was
that it revitalizes a commodity product, increases market share of the first one
to hawk it heavily, increased the price from 10-33%, providing whopping
profits for formula companies. The companies then remove all of the standard
products, leaving only the new more expensive version while they co-opt health care
professionals to sing its wonders.

Lactnetters may wish to check out a well researched publication from the UC
Davis Human Lactation Center. It is an independent study workbook offering
continuing education credits entitled, "The role of longchain fatty acids in
infant health: helping families make informed decisions about DHA." Information can
be found at: http://lactation.ucdavis.edu.

I usually ignore attacks on NABA and myself. As the years pass, the skin
grows thick, and I try not to waste my time with some of these angry women. We
have so many breastfeeding mothers who need us so badly!

My second granddaughter arrived last Friday after a high speed ride to the
hospital. 30 minutes after arriving, Sophie entered the world, assisted by those
wonderful midwives and a doting daddy. Today, the formula samples arrived on
my daughter's front porch. My son-in-law thinks the companies do this to me on
purpose!
