Hello,
I am a CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) living in Istanbul. There are no current IBCLCs in Turkey, but I just took the exam this summer so if I pass I'll be the first one here. There are also very few lactation counselors and even fewer that have actual certifications here in Turkey. The LLL in Ankara is new this year. So although some places in Turkey its difficult to find reliable lactation support, there are some good mom support groups evolving, especially around the expat community. I just moved from Boston, USA to Istanbul and have worked there as an RD and CLC and have my degrees from USA. I am happy to help this mom from South Africa if she needs any lactation support and to direct her to other resources she might need here. She can personally email me, [log in to unmask]
I work at a mom-baby center called DOUM in the European side of Istanbul (http://www.do-um.com/english/english.aspx). There is also an e-journal I sometimes write for that have great online resources for breastfeeding, pregnancy support in Turkey (http://www.damara-cocuk.com/?locale=en). They also have a link to experts including pediatricians in Istanbul who support breastfeeding.
Hope this is of help. Looking forward to hear from this new mom.
And if any other questions regarding breastfeeding support in Turkey arise in LACTNET, I would be happy to have them directed to me.

Thank you.
