I experienced a "weird" feeling while feeding my first baby. I remember
feeling fine during the first few weeks, and somewhere around the 2
month mark, I would be siting in a soft chair, pillows propped and I
could not get comfortable. I can only describe it as on overwhelming
sense of cabin fever. I felt like I had to jump up, and run out the
door. It was an incredible feeling of urgency to get up and I could not
shake the feeling! It was frightening, The feeling sometimes occured
during the middle of a feeding, but mostly toward the beginning, after
latch-on.
I would try deep, cleansing breaths, listening to music, lying down to
nurse, and any I could think of to relax. It seems like I read about
this one time and the person described a similar account as a sort of
"pins and needles feeling in their legs."
After a few weeks, this feeling went away. At the time (I was barley
20) I just thought all breastfeeding moms experienced it. Now, I am
wondering if this reaction may be tied to exhaustion and
sleep-deprivation. I have felt the same feeling when I was over-tired
and I couldn't get to sleep.
Hope this makes sense. Let us know what happens.
