Hi Everyone,
I am a long time Lactnet lurker. My name is Wendy Krzanowski, and I am
an RN and IBCLC in a small community hospital south of Pittsburgh, PA. I
also had a chance lately to meet with the representative from R*ss to
talk about the pump available from them. First, it took me awhile to
figure out how to put it together right, even then I wasn't sure I had
because of the low suction and awkwardness of it. This rep has
graciously offered to give this pump free of charge to all breastfeeding
mothers who are discharged, even though this company does not currently
have the WIC contract and I live in a depressed area with a very high
number of WIC moms. In the gift bag he offers, there is also coupons and
of course, abm samples. I politely refused his offer, telling him that I
thought it was a difficult pump to use and many moms would "assume"
that they did not have enough milk for the baby after trying it. It was
NOT easy to refuse him!! He asked me if I would consider it if it
helped one mom out of 10 or 20! I told him, no thank you again, as the
other 9-19 moms might fail because of it. Even with my refusal,
however, this gift bag with pump has found its way into our supplies,
even though we are not presently giving it out. Any advice out there on
how to say NO!!!
TIA
Wendy Krzanowski, RNC, IBCLC, CCE
