I would welcome your input: History - 33 y/o mom - hx of irritable bowel -
occl use of Miralax, on Zoloft, otherwise healthy. Baby girl born 11/2003.
baby began having explosive green stool and horrible gas. Mom reports that
baby screamed all the time after feeding. Finally remedied at approximately
2 months of age by mom pumping exclusively and bottle feeding. Saw several
different lactation consultants. Just delivered baby 2 on 5/6 - baby has
been feeding well - one breast/feeding. Good weight gain, doesn't sleep
well, but is otherwise content. Recently baby began having tummie troubles
1 hr after feeding ... mom describes:

So last night, around 10:30, approximately 1 hour after feeding the little
guy starts screaming. And I mean screaming. The no-noise, red face kind of
screams where you wonder if he'll remember to breath. It came in waves.

He would scream for 10 seconds then start sucking on the pacifier and
moaning and sometimes he'd almost fall asleep till the next screaming fit.

It lasted for about a 1/2 hour.

At first we thought it was just a bad feeding because I had been out for
dinner and came home and fed him off a very full breast. But then it
happened again this morning after a normal feeding... same kind of
screaming, 1 hour after eating.

I welcome any suggestions you may have on how to help this mom.

Angela Leonard, IBCLC - (Pennsylvania)
