Subject: [LACTNET] patents on our milk, and pump companies' involvement

'The real issue should be Medela's ownership of a patent called, "Human Milk
Fortifiers and Methods for Their Production."

**Sounds pretty misleading to me... HUMAN milk fortifier... Stuff to fortify
human milk... or stuff to fortify, made from human milk... or 'human-like'
(even worse... :-s) stuff to fortify bovine based milk?!
In my opinion, Prolacta should use that term, as their products are made
from human milk. Is Medela's also...?

My oh my... Marsha... if you have such a hard time to explain to intelligent
lc's like us what the differences are... something must be wrong.
How do you feel about that...? Don't you think it is weird, that you have to
be so highly educated about the Code to be able to know the difference
between marketing and selling and to define whether something is a violation
you should speak up against and adjust your way of practising to or not?
Just the other day, someone said: "The Code has to be adapted to the present
situation", meaning that bottles and teats should have a place, now that
pumping is much more common.
Different view... how about it? ;o)

Warmly,

Marianne Vanderveen (still alert to avoid and escape possibly thrown stones
;-))
