Hi all you out there.
With clients permission.
I have never had this before in all my limited experience of nearly 20 years with LLL and being an LC>
Mom complained that infant 10 months old was biting. I suggested to her (a la LLL) to remove the baby from the breast at the time that this occurs and explain however, to the baby that biting is not acceptable. The mom had tried this on a few occasions, but to no avail. Then 2 days ago, she did the same and said to the baby NO. Not roughly, not violently - but the baby was offended and has refused the breast since then. The mom is adamant about bfg and is using EBM, pumping all the time but is really upset. She is trying to talk her back to the breast - (can you imagine playing airplane with a breast, like they used to do to us to get us to eat?????) but so far, not much success. At least the baby has started smiling at the breast and not crying like before.
I feel rotten! (yes, I know I am not responsible etc....etc...but heck, what's better - teethmarks or early weaning LOL)

any ideas? anyone have any experience with this?
thanks,
have a good weekend.
Ellen Shein, IBCLC Tel Aviv
