Hi to all!
The mention of ginger for migraines reminded me of an article I cut out of
a local paper not long ago. It reports that ginger root is helpful for
various ailments, including migraines. They cite a study done in Denmark in
which significant inprovement was found in people suffering from migraines.
They used it like this: During the migraine attack, a woman was given 500
mg of ginger powder diluted in water, and the pain subsided within a half
hour, leaving no after effect and no post-migraine hangover. Thereafter she
recieved 1.5 - 2 gr of ginger a day (it is available in capsule form )
which significantly lowered the frequency and severity of her migraines,
from which she had been miserable and almost sidelined for years.
The article also mentions ginger's positive effects as a "NSAID substitute"
in joint inflammations.
Would such large amounts of ginger have any affect on breastfeeding,
negative or positive?
