Hi all,
The mom I have who had breast reudction surgery told me she has a lot of
sensation in her nipples! And this after having them placed in a dish!
Also, she said she is able to hand express out some yellowish fluid from one
breast. (Colostrom!?) Maybe she will be able to BF after all.
However, she told me a few more things that are way above my head (typical).
She is a manic depressive, and a smoker. She wants to quit smoking and was
going to get a prescription for Niccorette Gum ( Polocrilet ), is this OK
with BF? Also her medication for her Manic Dep. is Depakote and Trazadone
(Deseril). Are these OK with BF? She is NOT taking the meds for depression
at this time, but may need them within 2 weeks after the birth of the baby.
One more for you. This is a neat one though, I think. I just talked to a
mom who had breast cancer in one breast, had it removed one year ago. The
other breast is healthy, as is she now. She wanted to know if she could BF
with the one breast left. I told her YES! I know that BF helps reduce the
risk of B Cancer in healthy women, but what about in women in her situation?
Also, will there be any probs with milk supply? I would think that there
wouldn't be. But I'm just checking.
Thanks a lot! I have learned so much from all of you!
Janet
