Trust-building Hormone Short-circuits Fear in Humans

Thank you Laura, for posting the link to that fascinating article, which
includes links to some other articles that illustrate the cascade of new
insights being gained into human behavior..

The question came into my mind: Does anyone know if it is possible to
absorb oxytocin through the GI tract, and whether breastmilk contains
oxytocin? I have read that it contains prolactin, but thus far, no effect
had been hypothesized. But if it were to contain oxytocin, this article
suggests some powerful possibilities in relation to infant emotional
development.

In addition, the article seems to somewhat "Wiessingerize" the issue of
whether stress inhibits oxytocin, by showing how oxytocin changes the
reaction of the fear center in the brain-the amygdala.

Laura, I think it's directly on topic for us! I recommend it for anyone
interested in bonding, attachment, autism, mental health, etc. etc. This
is new evidential information hot off the press, quite possibly of use in
promoting breastfeeding and the effect of oxytocin on mothers.
