Well, after I posted to Lactnet, I went back to PubMed, and tweaked my
query. Of course, NOW I got two interesting abstracts:

(1) Potishman N, Troisi R, In-utero and early life exposures in relation to
risk of breast cancer. Cancer Causes Control. 1999 Dec;10(6):561-73.

Buried in the abstract is this tantalizing phrase: "Having been breastfed
as an infant has been associated with a 20-35% reduction in risk of
premenopausal breast cancer in four of six studies evaluating this fact."

I don't have the full study -- I don't think I can get it without
subscurbing to the publication.

(2) Weiss HA et al., Prenatal and perinatal risk factors for breast cancer
in young women. Epidemiology. 1997 Mar;8(2):181-7.

This abstract contains the sentence, "a reduced breast cancer risk was seen
among women who had been breastfed (relative risk = 0.74%; 95% confidence
interval = 0.6-1.0)."

Again, I have yet to read the full article.

Does anyone have anything else in their files?
