Dear wise women,
As many of you are aware, I teach a lactation course to nurse midwives and nurse practitioners at the graduate level. I want to refresh the books that they read in class and hope you might have some suggestions for me? They buy Lawrence and Hale for content but then also choose one of the following:
1. The Politics of Breastfeeding: when breasts are bad for business by Gabrielle Palmer (2009)
2. Mother's Milk: Breastfeeding Controversies in American Culture by Bernice Hausman (2003)
3. At the Breast: Ideologies of Breastfeeding and Motherhood in the Contemporary United States by Linda Blum (2000)
4. A Social History of Wet Nursing in America: From Breast to Bottle by Janet Golden (2001)
I'd like to get more current and contemporary titles- they also see several video in class.
Any thoughts would be gratefully received!
