You say in your post that it costs the same as the going daycare rate -- for
all those families who would be paying *anyway* to have their child in
daycare, here is a day care that is right where they work, so it is feasible
to go nurse their child on breaks and at lunch. And when the child is sick,
they can still be cared for, the mother doesn't have to take off to stay
home with them. Where I work, there is no on-site daycare at any cost, and
I have to park in a lot that is a 15 minute walk from my office. So there
is no way I could go to nurse my child on breaks or even at lunch, and none
of the day cares in town allow sick kids, so I have to take off whenever any
of my kids are sick. If there is an emergency, it takes me at least 25
minutes to get from my office to the day care. I say we need to give a big
hurrah to SC Johnson Wax, which is one of the most family-friendly companies
around. Imagine being able to reach your child in 5 minutes or less, at no
extra cost....that would be a true luxury, and a vast improvement over what
most people have.
