Dear colleagues:

If you have any experience with breastfed infants (particularly under the
age of six months) showing an intolerance to any form of oral vitamin D
supplements, please contact me privately at [log in to unmask] I am
currently no-mail and will not be likely to see your reply if you post it
to LACTNET. Please detail the location (city, state/province, country) in
which this experience occurred, the name of supplement and all of its
ingredients, the symptoms of intolerance, the reason for supplementation
(e.g., general public health policy recommendation, known vitamin D
deficiency, specific risk for vitamin D deficiency [if so, what risk
factors]), the course of action taken after demonstration of intolerance
(e.g., continued administration, intermittent administration, stopping
administration, mixing the supplement into another substance before
administering (if so, what substance), alternative treatment [if so,
what]), the age of the nursling, the health status of the nursling, the
outcome of the situation, any apparent psychological impact of the
intolerance on the mother, infant, their relationship or breastfeeding, and
any other information you think is relevant.

If you have any information on the prevalence of intolerance of breastfed
infants to oral vitamin D supplements (in your country, hospital, clinic,
practice, etc.) and/or compliance rates regarding oral supplementation of
breastfed infants with vitamin D, please contact me as well.

Thank you in advance!

Cynthia
