In So.Ca. we seem to have a large population of Asian mothers. Many of these
moms have breasts similar to what you described small, firm,
mounded, symmetrical with large, elongated nipples. They always get a new nuse
'going'.They run up to me first thing in the morning, "You have got to see
this mom!". I do understand the problem you are having with the pumping
situation. I have not experienced this personally, but have observed babies
gagging at the breast initially, because of the size and length of the nipple
and occasional problems with latching-on which seem to quickly resolve with
practice. I just wanted you to know that this is somewhat common from what I
have seen, which was really your question.
Anne Williams RN BSN IBCLC - just a week out of hospital from those pregnancy
migraines which Becky Behre was right about- dehydration (think it all
started in the hot desert along with a bit of throwing up at 6 months+ no
less! Proctoring the IBLCE was an experience after throwing up at 7:30 the
night before)
