Showing my ignorance once again -- regarding the post about baby not being
able to be held because IV was precarious.  When Peter was in the NICU for
three weeks, being fed totally by IV because of duodenal atresia for 6 days
before surgery and several days after, they put the IV in his head, and
covered the site with the overturned bottom half of a styrofoam cup, on
which they had written "Peter the Great".  It protected the IV site.  Of
course, he still had temperature and respiratory and heart monitors taped to
his skin, so was covered with wires, but we could pick him up and hold him
all we wanted because the IV was out of the way.  Is this not possible in
lots of cases??
