I agree with Khalid Aziz about breastfed babies and the need for ORT.

If a breastfed baby gets the usual mild type of diarrhea that breastfed
babies get, there is absolutely no reason to give ORT, which is actually
oral electrolyte solution, not ORT.  The rehydrating solution should
have more sodium than the stuff you can get in a pharmacy.

The Canadian Pediatric Society, however, suggests that even with mild
diarrhea, breastfed babies should be getting electrolyte solution.  This
shows how much they are influenced by the formula companies which make
the solution.
