Another LC called to ask if I had an opinion on a case. Baby is 8 months
old, takes some solids, feeds at breast 4-5 times a day, all is well. One
day mom's milk supply got way ahead of baby. Mom pumped out 12 ounces at
one pumping. She called LC who told her first to stop all that pumping.
She decreased the pumping and the supply was diminishing and after 3 days it
is still ahead but she is not having to pump.

LC and Mom want to know what could cause such a sudden jump. Baby hadn't
been feeding more frequently, mom not on bc pills, nothing unusual that mom
could identify.

Any ideas out there?
