I heard an interesting presentation on how the idea of milk kinship was 
improving adoption rates in Islamic countries. Women would not be able 
to adopt children, because they would not be able to be unchaperoned 
around them as they grew if they were boys, and if they were girls, they 
would not be able to be around their brothers. Introducing the concept 
of adoptive breastfeeding allowed children to be adopted, because they 
were then legally milk children/siblings, and would be in normal 
familial relationship with the rest of the family members. My apologies 
to the person who gave the lecture, I can't remember who it was and 
don't have time to look it up.
