TTN is transient tachypnea of the newborn, common form of  respiratory
distress seen in infants of diabetic mothers. According to one of my nursing
texts, 'TTN may be related to the IDM's decreased level of surfactant
production and to delayed clearance of fetal lung fluid.  TTN is seen more
frequently in infants delivered by c-sec (frequently LGA) probably due to
insufficent thoracic "squeeze" resulting in retained fetal lung fluid."

Babies with respiratory distress frequently tire during feedings because of
increased energy demands.  Could that be why they are limiting feedings?
