Hi,
It can be a difficult to put both baby and mom on a strict celiac diet w/out
a doc diagnosis. However, sometimes the mom MUST make her own decision to
take this action with or without medical advice. The food reactions and
weight loss definitely point to a problem, that is probably going to
probably take many years or even a lifetime to conclude a celiac diagnosis.
(my own child suffered for three years!)

It may be as simple as having mom and baby use a strict gluten free diet,
then if baby feels better, and the triglycerides numbers get better, then
she has her answer.

2 things that she might consider: GET a new doctor, either at University of
Chicago Celiac program OR a doctor that was trained by them. The other is
to be online with [log in to unmask] There are a number of parents that
have children that are celiac. Stories vary greatly of what sypmtoms they
had and how they became either diagnosed or had to become better with the
moms help alone.

(part of Debbie's post)
Mom was tested negative for celiac a few years ago; baby was tested negativ=
e
for celiac last month when she started losing weight, but maybe the results
changed? Mom said baby reacts to oats (vomiting) and wheat (rash and gas)
but not rye and barley.

Thank you all again for all of your help on brainstorming this. You all
deserve fine chocolates :)
