I like the glycerin gel dressings better than hydrogels.  My clients had
a higher risk of mastitis with hydrogel dressings, but the glycerin gels
have not had this problem.  Moms usually love the glycerin gels, they
ahh with relief upon application, and nipple healing seems more rapid
than with modified lanolin.  I have not seen any maceration, but I am
careful to tell the mom to discard the dressings after 24 hours.  The
only downsides so far:  the dressings are very expensive, and the
cooling effect seems to make vasospasm worse in some mothers.
