Susan, I couldn't agree more.  I have done a number of Masters level subjects in international public health and the best that is EVER said about infants 0-6mos is 'should be exclusively breastfed'.  Although nutritional screening and treatment for kids 6-60 mos is covered in great detail, the infants are invisible.  No mention of how mothers might be supported to breastfeed their babies, how breastfeeding problems can be identified or addressed, nothing about training breastfeeding counsellors, birth attendants, midwives or health care workers.  It makes my blood fair boil.
