Would this baby want to feed herself? Try a little mashy banana, avocado,
frozen peas or carrots, or even Cheerios? Pincer grasp should be good.
Even just a few tastes once a day and the mother could tell the doc that the
baby has started solids. What would the doctor have mom do--force feed?
My daughter would not let me feed her. She wanted to feed herself. Of
course, much of it went on the floor or everywhere on her body with the
least amount going in her mouth. But, I let her and didn't sweat it.
I have also known several babies at one year or near who weren't interested
in solids. There is some thought--and perhaps research(?) that says babies
with food sensitivities or allergies will often not want to start solids
until older--even older than one year.
