There is a good article in Breastfeeding Review Vol 4 no 1 May 1996
regarding nipple vasospasm and its relationship to Raynaud's
syndrome. The authors - Laureen and Carolyn Lawler-Smith - two Aussie
doctors/LCs - have a special interest in this area.
Although the article mainly deals with vasospasm of the nipple, they
do discuss treatments such as:
Avoiding precipitating factors
Quitting smoking
Reducing caffeine intake
Moderate aerobic exercise
Biofeedback
Calcium and magnesium (anecdotal treatment)
Evening primrose oil and fish oil
Nifedipine - the authors say that less than 5% of total dose of
nifedipine appears in breastmilk, and that it is safe to use during
lactation.

Hope this helps
Fiona
