<<Did anyone catch Bill Mahrer (sp?) Friday night on "Politically
Incorrect" (U.S. adult late night talk show) as this incident made a
spirited subject for discussion?>>

Spirited and disturbing. The only person who thought it was "ludicrous" to
remove the child also thought it was "ludicrous" to bf him and that he is
probably damaged from it and that the mother should be fined (!) or forced to
undergo therapy. (She did also say that this had to be even more traumatic
for this child b/c of the bf aspect of the relationship). She was also the
only one who stated she had bf or had experience of bf (ie a spouse). The
other woman, mother of an 18 mos old thought it was barbaric, (although she
said she doubted any mother could force a child to bf), as did Bill Maher.
She also talked about a friend who dated someone of Aboriginal descent who
had been bf for many years--but then said that of course he was a "Mama's
boy". Maher argued that this could not have been normal even in past
generations or other cultures. The only vaguely interesting comment, missed
by everyone else, was the chef who said he thought 3 or 4 was normal in his
culture (he is Austrian). Maher's final statement was something like, "So, we
all agree this child has been psychologically damaged by the bf". I plan to
email the program with a response this weekend.
