PTP. I am hoping that someone can shift me in the right direction. Any thoughts about a mother who has developed hives upon beginning domperidone (for low supply related to insufficient milk removal/exclusive pumping)? She is taking 30mg/TID. She also had similar hives at 1 week-10 days when beginning a pumping schedule, but these are more severe.

Any suggestions for testing to determine whether the allergy is to the medication itself or the increased prolactin? I've found one case report and remember some discussions regarding other experiences.

Mom can likely manage with antihistamines if it is prolactin, but does not wish to continue the domperidone if it is that which is causing the reaction. She is currently producing 50% of baby's needs, so this is significant as output has increased with the domperidone.

Thanks,

Michelle
