I have had a couple of mothers for whom salt water soaks helped resolve the
cracks. They also had addressed thrush symptoms and continued those
treatments while using the soaks. The healing took  up to a week.

Rounded 1/4 tsp salt disolved in 1 cup of very hot water. When the water is
comfortably warm mother submerges her nipple into the water until it is
cooled. She can rinse it before feeding.

The solution is a little stronger than the standard saline solution.
