Sometimes my minor in Anthropology comes in handy. Hunter-gatherer
societies tend to be more egalitarian, cooperative, and have less female
gender devaluation than agriculture based societies. There was one
famous anthropology film called The Giraffe Hunt, if I am remembering
correctly. One of the men in the hunting party was very motivated to get
meat to bring home to his pregnant wife for her welfare and that of the
growing baby. Though there were usually complex ways of dividing the
hunt, the elderly, women and children were well provided for.
