Ooooooo, I get steamed when I read this! Do the
nutritionists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, et
cetera,  need to have an RN to be able to practice in the
hospital? I think we, as Lactation Consultants, need to take
a stand on this issue. An RN is a credential to be respected,
but not required, for an LC -- and vice versa. Our survival as a
profession demands we delineate our expertise, and
separate our profession. Lactation consultants are not
nurses with extra training -- we are specialists in our own
right.

Good thing I'm about to walk home in the cold night air--I
