she told me her Pedi was adamant that she could not breastfeed her
baby while using the APNO. Part of me just wanted to say "do it anyway, how will the Pedi even know" but I know I can't do that so instead I told her I would take the pressure to inform the clinician.
I don't know if we can ever change this mind set but I am not giving
up my work as an LC.<

Ann, this drives me crazy too. One of the ways I deal with it is to gently remind the mother that she is PAYING the doctor for services in the same way she would pay a lawyer, that she is under no obligation to act on the advice given and she is free to get a second opinion.

Can you imagine a lawyer telling a client to sue a corporation just because I said so and because I went to law school, instead of quoting the relevant regulations and precedents?
No way. Ain't gonna happen!

Good luck!
