I can give you a lot of other examples (antibiotics overuse would be the 
universal #1) but the c/sections (at least in part) should be blamed not 
on OB's, but on lawyers.

And believe me, in breastfeeding medicine we are in much better shape 
then in the antibiotics battle, or - another example - in adoption and 
foster care medicine.

I wonder about the insurance companies that pay for unnecessary cesareans.  I wonder why they don't fight against unnecessary cesareans.  They do have the resources (money for lawyers) to do this.  

Getting OT here, but I just heard on NPR* yesterday that antibiotics use is 50% higher in the South than in the West.  Cultural use of drugs, I suppose.
