Hello everyone

 Is ultrasound a
>good indicator? Any other morale-boosting ;) options?

not sure. I contacted the LRC for one mum I was counselling and they
forwarded a few relevant articles. Seems to be a wait and see approach. If
this mum is on the Internet, there is a group for mothers who have had this
surgery and are planning to BF, or are actually doing so. It is very
exclusive and they won't let you on if you are just interested. You'll have
to do a LACTNET search to find the name of the group as I didn't save it
:-(

The mum I counselled, DID have a periareolar incision but found when her
milk came in, that she was producing enough initially. The staff were
weighing the babe constantly and I think she found this undermined her
confidence. Anyway, she weaned to formula (I then had to deal with the
engorgement!!!), but in hindsight she felt that with the next baby she would
be much more relaxed and exclusively BF for as long as possible.

you win some you lose some

regards
