Consensus of studies examining the question of the relationship of water
ingetsion to milk production is that they are (basically) unrelated.

Some short-term increase may occur, but is not sustained.

Drinking to thirst is the best advice in most cases. With my clients, I
suggest they use the color of the urine (in the absence of vitamins that
might alter this) as a guide: clear or nearly clear urine throughout the
day is an indicateor of adequate water intake. It will be more
concentrated the first thing in the AM.

A caution: iron tabs do make for more "color" and can confuse the issue if
mom is on such tablets.

Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
