Hi Pat,
Actually, I don’t think that would be very helpful. We need people involved in lactation in the US to understand those outside as I think it is highly unlikely that lactation organisations will significantly reduce US dominance in terms of make up and organisational structure and management any time soon….so the only hope is for more Americans to understand more about the world. I don’t think it’s too much to ask. And while I say this I fully realise that I am from probably the next most influential country and that that things are a hell of a lot easier for Australians than just about anyone else, for e.g. Last year the ILCA Board had only one non American Board member (as indeed is still the case) but that member was Australian and so it was easy for me to advocate (she might say persistently nag) with her about an Australian issue and eventually get support from ILCA- I had an insider who understood the issue and could work to persuade the other Board members who didn’t know about it and didn’t care or see it’s significance to start with because it wasn’t American. 
I really believe in the value of international organisations but when international orgs are dominated by one country, it’s a huge problem!
