I suggest that firstly , we stop victimizing ourselves then others will also.
Your situation was awful. I too, had my share of 'problems" with a divorce
and three children to support, alone. Somehow, well, actually, through hard
work, I have brought myself to the place where I am today, as you have. I
understand your enthusiasim for supporting a government program to "help"
those in need and it is honorable. Government, with its power to coerce ,
seems to be a magic wand that can make your dreams come true. It seems to be
able to summon anything you want, do away with anything you dont like, and
make everyone happy-- With govt. at your disposal, it appears that you can by
pass the tedious process of earning a living, spreading the gospel, or
persuading others of your cause. Unfortunatly it comes with a price. Usually
a high one. Government programs promoted by well intentioned citizens are
almost always derailed by unforeseen consequences. For Instance:
1). Poverty programs dont reduce the poor, they encourage more people to
qualify as poor. 2.) Rules and regulations dont reform society . People look
for ways around them. 3.) The failure of each program leads to more programs.
5.) when has the govt ever handled anything correctly? When you ask
government to help you , you must also be aware that others will want the
same. The government that is big enuff to give you what you want by taking
it from someone else is strong enuff to take everything you have and give it
to someone else.
Are you aware of the number of taxes you pay monthy?? Sales tax, gas,
utilities, Social Security, FICA, and on and on...you pay approximatly 45-55%
of you income in taxes. That is the reason women can't stay home and must
work ....If you feel so strongly about helping those in need, i suggest you
pay out of your own pocket, or start a foundation , but please, dont force me
to support your cause. I have my own to support. (talk about getting hot
under the collar :->
