Hi there!

I Have sevral samples of "free" ABM that were given to me (hospitals, the
new mom clubs. etc...) and I have decided to use them in quite a
different way. I counsel for WIC moms, many of whom have never even
thought about breastfeeding. Usually, I don't get to help them make a
decision, I only get to see moms who have already decided to breastfeed,
but many of these moms are set on only nursing a few months, or set on
using some formula as well as breastfeeding. What I have been doing to
discourage the use of ABM as a supplement, or early weaning, is asking
these girls to TASTE and SMELL the ABM, before ever deciding to give it to
their babies. Most of them decide it is pretty gross stuff, looks and
smells NOTHING like their good mommy milk, and quite a few of them have at
least given supplemeting a second thought! Just thought I would share...

PS I have also done this with a few pregnant friends' husbands who saw
"nothing wrong with formula- *I* turned out okay..." and most of them are
pretty grossed out by the ABM as compared to human milk too! ;)
